The Department of Treasury manages the money resources of the United States. Tours of the Treasury Building are available by advanced reservation. On a tour of the building, students will first visit the restored Civil War era Salmon P. Chase Suite. Next, they'll view Secretary's Conference Room and Diplomatic Reception Room, recreated in a typical mid-19th century style. The last stop on the third floor is the restored Andrew Johnson Suite, used by President Johnson as his temporary White House immediately following the assassination of Abraham Lincoln in 1865. On the second floor they will view the Burglar-proof Vault, with its restored decorative cast iron wall, and finally the historic marble Cash Room.
