Lupa Zoo

A 20-acre conservation and educational institution, Lupa Zoo houses 500 animals of a variety of species. On a field trip to Lupa Zoo, groups can use a map to navigate their way through the park and visit the animals. Groups will encounter bison, antelope, waterfowl, donkeys, ostriches, giraffes, alpacas, otters, porcupines, zebras, llamas, and more. Be sure to stop at Jessie’s One Stop Blacksmith to see the inside of a real Blacksmith’s shop and enjoy fun and games in the Jungle Room. Lupa Zoo requires a ratio of one adult for every six students/campers. Reservations must be made at least three days in advance to qualify for group discounts.

Zoos Fun Facts

The giraffe’s tongue is black to prevent sunburn while eating in the hot sun. Their spots, which are as unique as human fingerprints, are designed for camouflage. They also need less sleep than any other mammal, using the time instead to browse for food.

When visiting the zoo, be on the lookout for the clever ways that the animals have adapted to their surroundings and developed traits that help them to survive.

Most zoos provide free educational resources to make your trip more meaningful; some offer group tours. You can also ask about animal feeding times or other events and plan your trip accordingly.
