Living History Centers Fun Facts

American breakfast wasn’t always bacon, eggs, and orange juice. In colonial times, the typical child would eat a breakfast of cornmeal mush that had been cooked all night over embers.

Campers will have fun learning about the seasonal tasks and the way of life at colonial interpretive farms, villages and forts. Many have costumed guides who campers can observe to learn how children and adults lived. Many offer hands on activities such as candle making, ice-cream making, churning butter, quilting and more.

Campers can record how long various tasks took, and compare them to how long these tasks take to complete today.
