Lynches River Park

This park’s forests, river swamps, and "canopy walk" alongside towering cypress trees make it a rich environment for groups that want to learn about the wilderness. Groups will make up-close discoveries with seeds, adaptations, life cycles, and much more. They can plant their own seed to take home, make their own fossil, classify species, and even pretend to be birds with unique characteristics and adaptations. They can also have in-depth outdoor lessons about trees, ecosystem factors, fossils, and water quality. Lynches River Park also offers exciting outdoor physical education programs, including a geography “wilderness survival” program, and archery.

Nature Centers Fun Facts

One single tree can provide the oxygen required for two human beings and over 8,000 sheets of paper. In the United States, we use enough office paper each year to build a 10-foot-high wall that’s 6,815 miles long. That’s more than the distance from New York to Tokyo!

Trees can also clean the soil and air by absorbing harmful pollutants. So what have you done for a tree lately? Nature centers provide a hands-on environment to discover facts about native plants and trees, as well as ways to preserve these natural resources.

Follow up your trip by planting a tree or proposing a conservation program for your group.
