Bee City Honeybee Farm

Groups visiting Bee City can learn all about beekeeping, farm animals, and more at this farm and nature center. Programs in the hands-on beekeeping classroom let groups handle beekeeping equipment, see the glass observation bee hive, learn about different kinds of bees and honey, and more. Visit the Petting Zoo and Nature Center to see local and exotic critters, including deer, alpacas, lizards, and even alligators. Hands-on field activities during your group's visit will give them the chance to pour a beeswax figurine, make honey comb candles, and even bottle an 8 oz. honey bear.

Farms Fun Facts

The average American may eat 125 pounds of potatoes each year but corn is actually America's number one field crop, providing ingredients for cereals, peanut butter, snack foods and soft drinks. Have your campers note the various ingredients in the food they eat.

The average person eats 68 quarts of popcorn a year alone! Have each camper keep a record of how much popcorn they eat during the camp season, or the total amount that their camp consumes.

Use a trip to an agricultural farm to find out about the benefits of eating local. Ask the farm staff to discuss the process from seed to market.
