Maitland Art Center

Tours of the Maitland Art Center, highlighting the legacy of visionary artist and architect Jules André Smith, are available for school groups by appointment. In addition to the Maitland Art Center, admission includes all Main Campus Museums - Maitland Historical Museum and Telephone Museum. During an outreach program, an A&H staff member will visit your school to talk about the history of printmaking and its importance in the art world. Students will create their very own prints with supplies provided. Programs should be booked at least TWO weeks in advance.

The A&H’s Maitland Art Center was founded as an art colony in 1937 by visionary American artist and architect, André Smith whose legacy continues with contemporary art exhibitions in the galleries, art programming and more. The Art Center is one of the few surviving examples of “Mayan Revival” or fantasy architecture in the Southeast. The A&H’s Maitland Art Center offers a more immersive and intimate experience than a static museum, and encourages visitors to take a closer look at the artists and the artistic process. Visit this historic, aesthetic gem set in the middle of busy Central Florida.
