African American Museum

The African American Museum in Dallas was created with the purpose of preserving the visual art and history of the African American community, particularly in Dallas and the Southwest. The permanent collection chronicles this history through fine painting, folk art, photography, library collections, and a small but interesting exhibit on African art. This last collection includes African masks, sculptures, textiles, and other rich objects. Programs offered to the public include lectures, tours, and workshops. Guided tours are available for groups.
