The Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village

The Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village consists of 18 structures, of which six are open to the public. Throughout these buildings there are 27 exhibit rooms, which explore a continuum of over 200 years of Shaker heritage in the Maine Communities. Campers can go on our guided or self-guided tour to learn about Maine Shaker heritage and culture of the past and present. Campers can take our “Creating Chosen Land: Our Home 1783-2010” tour or tour our Herb Garden. Our 1850 Boys’ Shop features the exhibit “Come Little Children, Come to Zion: Growing Up at Shaker Village” which explores the unique aspects of 19th century living and explores the lives of Shaker children in Maine.
