Pirate Adventures

Take your camp group on a swashbuckling adventure with a treasure-hunting voyage into the protected waters of the Lewis Bay. Once aboard the Sea Gypsy, campers will be transformed into an official member of the crew, complete with painted faces and a vest! Voyagers will hear pirate stories, take the Sea Gypsy oath, sing sea chanteys, and more. Afterwards, campers go on an adventure of a lifetime by searching for underwater treasure. They’ll follow a secret map, hoist flags, and participate in a fun water cannon battle. Our crew can design a custom, safe experience for your camp group. Our captain is United States Coast Guard license, and trained in First Aid and CPR. Capacity for our Pirate Adventure boat is 45 passengers.

Boat Excursions Fun Facts

Did you know a boat can be built out of concrete and it will still float? As long as a boat is lighter than the water it displaces, it will stay above water.

What makes a boat move through the water? Throughout history, boats have been powered by wind, propellers, oars, motors, paddles, and ocean and river currents. Sailboats, which have been around for 5,000 years, can reach speeds of over 47 knots (about 54 mph) from wind power alone!

The next time you take your campers on a boat, ask the crew how the boat’s construction helps it transport people and things across bodies of water, and what power sources it uses.
