Children’s Museum Lesson Plan

Children’s museums feature interactive exhibits that are designed to be manipulated by children.

The first children’s museum in the world was the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, founded in 1899. Hundreds of children’s museums have opened in the United States since then. As of 2007, the Association of Children’s Museums estimated that there were approximately 80 children’s museums in development alone.

Scouts

Scout groups can work on a variety of science badges on field trips to CMOST. Field trip activities such as designing a group project based on animal survival skills, creating polymers, exploring conductivity using Makey Makey, examining energy sources, learning about and collecting data on water quality, and more teach scouts important STEM concepts. Workshops on weekends at the museum allow scouts to enjoy making wearable circuits, experiment with optical illusions, creating textile art, and more.
